WHAT IS H.A.P.P.I. ?

Handicapped Artists, Performers and Partners, Inc. (H.A.P.P.I.) is a continuing program of workshops and classes to assist talented disabled artists seeking careers in film, motion pictures, television, radio and other areas of show business through training and guidance...and to provide a forum for such talent.

Because it is unlikely that a cast of all disabled performers in one production is rare; a network of talented, able-bodied Partners is incorporated into HAPPI. These partnerships add balance to a strong organization. Scene work is divided with equal able-bodied talent working side by side with their disabled cohorts. The musical workshops are also equally intertwined.

MEMBERSHIP

Interviews and auditions are held on a regular basis in the Los Angeles area by appointment. Presently the workshops are in session at the Film Actors Shop Theater/Studio in Westwood. For Information on HAPPI workshops and upcoming events contact Otto Felix at 310-470-1939.

PROJECTIONS

Through HAPPI it is possible to establish a new awareness of the handicapped community of talent. HAPPI will prove to the members themselves and to the world that they are capable of working side by side in everyday society...and in show business.

Because of the professionalism of the last ten years of variety showcases hundreds of HAPPI members have been discovered and employed in numerous film, radio, television and stage productions. Several more showcases are in the plans for the near future. These shows include celebrity involvement (Stars become Partners) which attracts entertainment executives, directors, casting directors and producers seeking new and exciting disabled talent. As the number of disabled performers grew the new HIT AGENCY Management Group became even more inevitable. (HIT - HAPPI International Talent)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

In addition to the workshops HAPPI members have formed an eight-piece band covering rock and country music. The very popular blind doo-wop group "Out Of Sight" has established themselves as the best oldies vocal group in Southern California. Also, several of the HAPPI 'sit-down' comedians have found national recognition as performers and writers on late night talk shows and sit-coms.

HAPPI has been necessary for a long time to assist disabled artists who are motivated but have had nowhere to turn, are aspiring but have had nothing but discouragement and are ready to show their talent but have had no outlet...But now there is H.A.P.P.I.

HAPPI members now have the opportunity to portray the "mainstream of society" image. The disabled performer will now introduce the disabled, as they really are...AN INTEGRAL PART OF SOCIETY AT LARGE... 40 million, strong, ready motivated, talented people.
